I'm 17 and trying to become a famous rapper and I made a demo tape, its like a full album. I'm charging people $10 for it and sold pretty good so far. NEW YORK a In the midst of a career surge that has made him one of rap's biggest stars, Lil Wayne is bracing for a year behind bars after pleading guilty Thursday in a two-year-old gun case.

A glum Lil Wayne said little as he admitted illegally having a loaded gun on his tour bus in 2007, moving to end a case that had churned along as he collected Grammys and gold records. He's expected to get a year in jail at his sentencing, set for February.

The plea, which came as he boasted the country's No. 1 pop song, makes Lil Wayne the latest in a long line of rappers to face incarceration after topping the charts.

Arguably rap's most popular artist, Lil Wayne somberly answered his judge's questions with "yes, sir" and "no, sir" as he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of attempted criminal possession of a weapon.

He acknowledged he had a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun when the bus was stopped shortly after a Manhattan concert on July 22, 2007. His lawyer had previously disputed the gun was the rapper's, in part by questioning the reliability of a highly sensitive DNA test that prosecutors said tied him to the weapon.

State Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon warned Lil Wayne that he wouldn't be able later to withdraw the plea, as some people try to do.

"I'm not one of those people," said the rapper, who sat in court in jeans and a hooded parka. He pulled up the hood and didn't speak as he left the courthouse with members of his entourage, who piled into four black SUVs. He's due back in court Dec. 15 before his sentencing date, which has yet to be set.

He had faced at least 3 1/2 years in prison if convicted of the original weapons-possession charges against him.

Lil Wayne, 27, also is scheduled for trial in Arizona in March on felony drug possession and weapons charges stemming from a January 2008 arrest at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint. He has pleaded not guilty in that case.

In March, an Atlanta judge dismissed felony drug charges against Lil Wayne. His lawyer had said the rapper wasn't staying in the hotel room where police said the drugs were found in 2006.

Over the past two years, Lil Wayne a born Dwayne Carter a has emerged as the best-selling figure in music. His "Tha Carter III" topped all album sales in 2008 with 2.8 million copies sold off of such hits as the No. 1 smash "Lollipop." His Grammys include last year's best rap solo performance award, for "A Milli."

A rapper since he was a teen, Lil Wayne exploded in popularity thanks to his voluminous output on the mixtape circuit and collaborations with other artists. He currently has the No. 1 song in the country with Jay Sean, "Down."

While his lyrics sometimes are laced with violence, he's more known for clever wordplay and risque material.

The relationship between chronicling crime and living it has long been an issue in rap. Some of the genre's big names a including Tupac Shakur, Lil' Kim, Beanie Sigel, Shyne, Mystikal and C-Murder a have done a few months to several years behind bars for crimes committed after they became famous.

T.I., another of rap's top sellers, reported to a federal prison in May for his conviction on weapons charges. He's expected to serve a year and a day.

While some rappers haven't regained their chart status after prison or jail, Shakur became even more popular, and T.I. remains popular on the radio.

Police pulled over Lil Wayne's tour bus shortly after it left a concert venue, saying they had seen and smelled marijuana smoke wafting out the door when it was parked.

After ordering roughly a dozen or so other people off the bus, police found a freshly showered Lil Wayne in his boxer shorts in a bedroom at the back of the bus. Police said that as an officer approached, the rapper tossed away a Louis Vuitton bag containing the gun.

The Miami-based rapper wasn't licensed to carry a gun in New York, prosecutors said.

The Manhattan District Attorney's office said small amounts of DNA found on the gun connected it to Lil Wayne. Defense lawyer Stacey Richman had raised questions about the relatively new technique, used to derive the results from DNA samples that can consist of fewer than roughly 16 human cells.

A hearing on the method's level of scientific acceptance started Wednesday and had been expected to continue for days. After Lil Wayne's guilty plea, both prosecutors and Richman stressed that they stood by their contrasting positions on the technique.

But, Solomon said, "The issue is not going to be decided in this courtroom, in this case."

Meanwhile, another platinum-selling rapper, Ja Rule, still faces gun-possession charges stemming from his separate arrest after playing the same July 2007 show as Lil Wayne. Ja Rule, known to the court as Jeff Atkins, has pleaded not guilty. He has a court date next month.

I could name a few, but want to see your opinions first.

Okay I been listening to Drake for like 3 years, so this was before he got famous as a rapper and loved him when he was underground he had some good **** out, Now that he done blew up and became famous he's starting to get a lil weak. Was he better when he was underground? Thoughts?

Which mainstream rappers could have been recognized as great underground artists if they had never become famous, and which underground rappers could've been great mainstream artists if things had gone differently (become recognized by someone big)?

and the lyrics are...
I don't need much,

just the simple things in life,

like the skills to free-style and friends to make you smile.

Not much,

just the simple things in life,

like a beautiful sunny day and a good D.J.

Not much,

just the little things we see,

things we don't buy;

things we get free.

Not much,

things we do naturally;

and for me,

it's things like being an M.C.

All I need in this crazy world:

is me and the peace of mind I'm trying to find

the happiness that exists in things we overlook,

like a song with deep lyrics and a catchy hook.

The cinema is cool but I'd rather read a book.

The simple things like a cordless mic to clutch,

and some bangin' instrumentals I can eat for lunch,

to make the crowd get the hell up like Pharoe Munch.

The little things on this planet that we take for granted

like living on your own and being independent,

breathin' oxygen and living in the precedent,

two ear drums that enable you to listen,

being outside - not locked in a prison -

I'd rather have that than rocks that shine and glisten,

or a brand new Porsche with keys in the ignition,

you gotta be a simple man to fit that description.

I don't need much,

just the simple things in life,

like the skills to free-style and friends to make you smile.

Not much,

just the simple things in life,

like a beautiful sunny day and a good D.J.

Not much,

just the little things we see,

things we don't buy;

things we get free.

Not much,

things we do naturally;

and for me,

it's things like being an M.C.

Whatever happened to rappin' and standing for what you believe in?

Rappers became famous, not because they were beefn'

Battles were not personal, I wouldn't punch your teeth in.

No one died over music, hip hop was not greavin'

I mis those cheap videos of live shows,

where mcs from any coast did collabos'

The industry was family, friends, not foes.

Instead of shootin' guns in the club, you throw bowls.

It's no longer simple now, anything goes.

just to rock the mic you need expensive clothes.

Company logos that everybody knows

I chose to keep it simple and I break those laws.

Oppose these tight codes and rhyme for a cause.

I don't need much,

just the simple things in life,

like the skills to free-style and friends to make you smile.

What you hear's what you get,

on C.D. or cassette,

even live on stage when I bomb your set.

Just a mic and a D.J. why complicate it?

This is how I look at life: it's not fabricated.

I've dedicated this track to nothing but simplicity;

no lights or cameras, I don't need publicity.

The audience and hands in the air is what I'm askin':

anything less should be thrown into the trash can.

This is not a script in a movie: I'm not actin'.

To live what you write and like: there's nothing greater.

If you don't feel this now, you're gonna feel it later:

as soon as A-Skillz flicks on the fader.

I don't need much,

just the simple things in life,

like the skills to free-style and friends to make you smile.

give me some tips.

so my teacher ask us to watch hustle and flow and to think about the negative aspect of the story, the characters, the settting and how this movie is similar to many people in real life.

how can i start to write my introduction/ thesis statement.
any suggestions.

(so the movie is about a hustler trying to become somebody " a rapper". in the end he does become famous because nola makes him by putting his music on the radio and everybody like it. right?)

Our relationships hard now sometimes...

Sometimes its all the girls I just get too jelous sometimes but he says where always going to be together...

Sometimes I get frustrated cause he never has time to talk or go on dates like all my other firends get to do with there boyfriends and we don't even get to see eachother at school anymore...

When we first started dating (we have been together almost 8 months) we use to fall asleep together all the time now its hard to fall asleep alone...

Just say anything you think could help me feel better about this? :(

He had at least one famous rap song in the 90's and later his rock band became pretty popular but who was he?

awhile back i had seen a movie about a mixed boy who moves out of his parents home to live on the streets and become a better writer/rapper. through the story he seems to dream maybe from being homeless.. to a police officer... to a famous rapper.. and throughout the movie who undergoes changes with 2 friends i think one was a crackhead.... does anybody know the name of this movie... im sorry for being vague but i dont know what details are important
he wasnt white he was black and light skinned

The movie is about a guy who wants to become a rapper. He writes a rap, and gives it to a famous rapper so the famous guy can promote the unknown rapper. Then, for some reason, he kills the famous rapper and goes to jail. I don't know how it ends. Some people I know keep telling me I look exactly like a girl in the movie, so I want to see the movie, but I can't remember the title! If you know what movie I mean, please tell me!

OMG! I have loved this rapper since like the ending of the summer. Im just attaching to his lyrics, but i admit exactly how long I've been a fan.

He has like the best beats and the sickest rhymes.

I can't wait till he becomes famous and shut down the "competition"!

just wonna kno what i have to do like end up like hilltop hoods , bliss n eso , so on im starting to make a demo should i send it to a good recording label? so they can hear?

I saw an article/thread on a website called slumz.boxden.com, so I wanna put together a list of more rappers that were losers before they were famous, yano, no friends, no money etc. etc.

Which ones do you know that was suckas before the fame?

when they are rich an famous they rap about being rich, famous and having all the women. so what do they rap about before they have those things

im a 14 year old girl and i really want to be Famous so i decided to become a rapper im trying to write some songs and some of them are good
and hopefully i can start by the time im 15 or 16
but i just wanted to know what could be the problems with being a rapper because there is always a dark side to things

OK I'm 18, started going to college and I wear my sandals with socks everyday to class. I do so mainly because I hate wearing normal people shoes because they hurt like hell, and I wear socks to keep my foot clean and warm. Also I do not enjoy the feeling when my foot touches the leather of my sandals. I also don't like the sight of feet when I'm out in public, but if anyone prefers people to wear sandals without socks, I'll just bash them for having a crazy foot fetish.

Problem is, socks and sandals is apparently a fashion faux pas in our society. A taboo worse then, communism, gay marriage and child pornography put together. Or at least that's how people in my classes see it as. I really don't see what's the problem with socks and sandals when there are things waaaaay worst.

Your telling me that wearing baggy pants is cool, but socks and sandals aren't??? (BTW if your curious, the whole baggy pants thing originated from jail mates who would use to have buttsecks with each other. They would then where their pants in such a manner to show they have become someone's um......yeah). The stupidity of people and what they see as cool and disgusting is beyond comprehension! And how the hell did this whole "vans" and "grills" thing got into fashion?? If wearing vans make you cool, then I must have the coolest grandma in the entire world! I'm willing to bet any of you idiots out there that if a famous rapper started wearing socks and sandals enough time, it will become the biggest sensation since baggy pants and Jordans because people are really STUPID enough to follow into any fad without realizing the hypocrisy of their actions.

So can someone PLEASE tell me what is so horrifyingly offensive about socks and sandals or else I'm going to continue wearing as a big F---you to everyone and their twisted foot fetish......wait, did I just vow to become the punk kid who wears a mohawk and piercings and plays loud music in the back of the bus?
and please don't tell me it defeats the purpose, have seen the idiots at high school whom everyone think is so cool just because they decide to wear their short sleeve shirts over long sleeve shirts?

well iv been rapping for many years I'm very excellent now and a lot of people would agree with me. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to take the next step like what do all these rappers do to become famous I want to know as soon as possible. Thanks!

Tupac Amaru Shakur! World famous rapper!

Tupac Shakur was born on June 16, 1971 in the Bronx, in New York City.
From childhood everyone called him the "Black Prince." Tupac never knew his father, and when he asked his mother about him she would say 'I don't know who your daddy is.' Tupacas childhood was very tough..When he was two, his sister, Sekyiwa, was born, but Sekyiwaas father, Mutulu, (pacs step father) was sent to jail for sixty years for armed robbery. With him in prison, life was very hard for pac and his family, they lived in extreme povert yand constantly moved around. He said that his a mojor issue for him while growinh up was not fitting in because he was just from everywere and didnat have any friends that he grew up with. He was very lonely and used to pass time by writing poetry and love songs. After moving to Baltimore at the age of 15, tupac began to rap, he started writing lyrics and walking like a gangster. Every one though he was cool because he came from New York. He called himself MC New York and made people think that he was a tough guy.

By the time Tupac was 21 he had already become a very successful
rapper. But in 1992 Tupac released his first solo album 2Pacalypse Now,
which put Tupac on the road to
fame. That same year he starred in a gangster film called Juice. In November 1994, Tupac was shot five times during a robbery in which thieves stole $40,000 worth of his jewelery. Tupac recovered from his injuries to make his best music ever, including the 1995 album Me Against the World, which sold two million copies, and the double-CD All Eyez on Me, which sold nearly three million. Just as Tupac was reaching the height of his fame and fortune he was shot and killed in Las Vegas after watching a Mike Tyson fight.
Tupac was shot four times in a drive by shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada on 7th September 1996. On September 13, 1996, six days after the shooting, Tupac died of respiratory failure and cardiac arrest in a Las Vegas local hospital. This devastated many people around the world as he was an inspiring rap artist.

Tupac was known by a few other name. 2Pac, Makaveli and Pac. He is knoen in the Guinness Book of World Records as the top selling hip-hop artist having sold over 73million albums worldwide.

He had 6 albums released before he died, and a further 6 after he died. These were songs that were not yet released when he was still alive.

Tupac was absolutely amazing! I mean, when eminem was 25 he was working in a factory and had just 330 songs. Snoop Dogg? He had 313 songs but was sitting in prison at the age of 25. And 50Cent? He had 372 song, but was a gangster and wasnat signed with any record label so was really doing it for nothing. Bur tupac Amaru Shakur? At the age of 25 he was killed! He had over 1000 songs and still more that have not yet been released. At 25 he was one of the worls most notorious rappers. Today he is still considered the best by so many people worldwide. Tupac had such a tough life and got through it all and became a KING! Even though he might not have been the greatest role model for youngsters he made it big. In my opinion there is only one word that could fully fit the the description of Tupac Amaru Shakur. That word is a?LEGENDa?

how the hell did this mofo get famous, his lyrics suck, his ryhmes such, and no one listens to this clown except tweens at like a middle school dance, maybe he should be on disney channel, and maybe i should become a rapper since everybody else is doing it these days
i he wants to amuse ppl maybe he shouldve done pop, not the same category of music in which 2pac and other greats such as biggie and nas rap in, its insulting, even good rappers these days have said he is garbage, but o well, his dad was rich and bought him a music studio, not everyone has it that easy stupid girl who gave first answer

I was just wondering how do u become famous? Cause i wanted to become a rapper any answer thanks.

i'm 13,i know im still young but i think im good for my age
my myspace views are saying allot for me, 75,000 profile views ( music myspace )
and i just think i need to get signed, maybe not to a MAJOR record deal, just a small one, then get bigger and bigger.
but does anyone recommend any record labels in the UK that i could get signed to?
thanks

i go to the studio twice a week for 2 hours recording freestyles and some of ma own songs. i have talent but how do i take it to the next level

1) What is WRMS?
2) Which famous 2pac song used sample from WRMS
3) If two letter from the name of this rapper are interchanged, it becomes an anal disease. Who is this?
4) (easy fo fun) with which garden tool do all rappers want to sleep with

When did this happen?

Suddenly he had a new name and suddenly his song became famous on iTunes?

Was Aubrey Graham (Jimmy from Degrassi) always a rapper?

Ive noticed that most of the biggest rappers currently started becoming famous around 1998-2002. For Example Kanye, TI, 50 Cent, Ludacris, Young Jeezy, The Game. Is there a reason for this?

I am trying to become a famous rapper.. Any site out there where i can post my songs and get a fan base

i started writing lyrics a couple of months ago and ready to take the challenge in becoming a famous rap artist...

Am i right?
My motto is Once rappers become big they have nothing to rap about.
Eminem was great when he was just a poor white boy but his album encore blew.
Once you become famous all you have to rap about is:
Money
Women
Guns
Drugs
Material Possesions.
If you can prove to me why i should listen to crappy artist like lil wayne i will give you 10 points.
Thanks

There is such a massive influx of MMA hopefuls it's ridiculous. I see them all over the internet, and I see them in the gym Pounding away on the Punching bag with their UFC gloves. I agree it's awesome and it would be great to fight and blah blah, but seriously, It's like trying to become a famous rapper, it's probably not going to happen.

Celebrities Are Ruining Todayas Youth
On the morning of July 7th 2007 eight divers discovered the lifeless body of 18 year old David Griego at the bottom of a 25 foot Greely pond in Denver, Colorado. County police revealed that the young teen had drowned imitating a stunt he had seen on the widely popular MTV show, Jackass, which features celebrities like Johnny Knoxville performing various crude and self-injuring stunts and pranks. Although, Griegoas story is only one of the many celebrity influenced deaths that we hear about, he is part of a growing statistic of young teens that have been negatively influenced by celebrities. While some people dismiss the growing trend of youths looking to celebrities for role models as a stage of adolescents, they fail to see the deeper truth (Halpern 25). Celebrities, highlighted by their athletic skills, musical talent, and acting abilities, are also negative influences to the youth of society, and should be held responsible for their actions.
Youth today are constantly bombarded with news of panty less celebrities like Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton or exposed to concerts where 16 year old Miley Cyrus is allowed to dance in a mini skirt, and gyrate on stage while singing about cheating boyfriends. Wearing skimpy outfits has become a part of celebrity culture and its influence on young girls has become apparent. a?More than 70% of girls are obsessed with trying to imitate the look of a celebrity, and 30% of those girls admit to looking up to over sexualized starletsa? (Brandish 9). Stores like Wal-Mart and Sears are vendors of the Hannah Montana brand which includes mini skirts with fake chains hanging off the pockets, and a?microa? shorts and pants that carry the Hannah Montana logo and words like a?pop stara? or a?rock stara? on the butt. Young girls aiming to dress like Hannah Montana demand these over sexualized outfits from their parents and elicit inappropriate attention. Young Disney celebs have taken on more grown up styles. Such is the case with actors like Kike Palmer and Miley Cyrus who are only 16, yet prance around Hollywood in leather minis and stilettos. These mature styles being modeled by young starlets has little girls as young as five or six wanting to imitate their style and be a?grown-upa? also.
While many critics will say it is ultimately the parents who buy the skimpy clothing their kidas wear, who is to account for the hundreds of teenage girls that hide short skirts and a?boob tubesa? in their backpacks only to put it on when their parents are unaware. a?12 out of 20 girls say their parents have no idea what types of clothes they buy and donat know what they wear to schoola?(Halpern 30).
Girls are not the only victims when it comes to the negative influence of celebrities, boys are also impacted. Famous rap artist P. Diddy proudly sells his trademarked a?Bitchassnessa? shirts with his junior Sean John collection, which is marketed to young males. His marketing tactics have boys as young as 12 years old requesting where they can purchase this shirt that glorifies bad grammar and curse words. And Diddy, a father to 4 boys as young as 13 makes a quick buck while young boys get the notion that curse words are appropriate. According to Jake Halpern, author of the book Fame Junkies, a?in 2002, celebrity-endorsed clothing labels accounted for 6 percent of the apparel industry; in 2005, it jumped to 10 percent,a? and a?analysts predict another 15 percent rise by 2009a? (Halpern 14).
In addition to glorifying obscene language, celebrities also influence how young boys wear their clothes. The a?baggy shortsa? epidemic has hit every middle school and high school in the form of teen boys. Young boys walk around in baggy shorts because they see rappers like Lila Wayne and Jay-z make sagging seem cool. These rappers never considered that they are promoting a style once associated with a?gaya? men in prison.
Mike Males a writer for the San Diego Greenhaven Press argues that, a?celebrities donat influence Americaas youth and shouldnat hold the blame because parents should be the role modelsa? (Males 1). If this is true why have so many celebrities come out with clothing and perfume lines that bear their name? Celebrities know that their name carries consumer appeal, and influences kids to buy a certain shirt or rock a certain pair of kicks. Celebrities also know what they are getting into when they take that first acting gig. If you didnat want to be looked at by young kids as a role model why start off on a network geared towards kids. Why not start off on soap operas mainly viewed by adults. P. Diddy knows that he is a role model to young boys, so why market a shirt that advertises a cuss word you wouldnat want your own son repeating in a junior clothing line. Hello, my son is 18 years old. Ever since he was able to talk he's dreamed of becoming a famous rapper. His idol is Vanilla Ice and he's been working on writing rap songs for about 8 years now.

He recently informed me and my wife that he was going to move to LA to finally fulfill his dream of becoming an internationally known rapper. But, he said before he does that, he is going to make it official by legally changing his name. You see, he beleives that his current name, the name my wife and I gave him, isn't "gansta" enough and that he needs a more tough-sounding name if he's ever going to be taken seriously in the rap community.

His name now is Erwin Q. McToolmeister. But he said that on Monday, he's going down to city hall and he's going to legally change it to Hercules J. Murder. I said that that name is completely ridiculous and suggested he try another name like maybe L.L. Tool-Jay, or something like that, but he has his heart set on Hercules J. Murder. My wife and I are just devastated. What should we do about this?
